This is what it looks like to do a HALO skydive from 30,000 feet (otherwise known as High Altitude Low Opening)… pretty quiet in the airplane before exit, sipping on oxygen. Mmm, delish. I love how this tandem student was like, “13,000 feet?? No way. I wanna jump from 30,000!” Hardcore. Now that’s some decent freefall time right there. Hooyah! This is a mashup from the movie “Navy Seals” (1990) with the song “Irreversible” by VHS or Beta during a HALO skydive from 30,000 feet. Even though the song has great build up, this scene has a bit of a cheese factor to it — minus the 4 minutes of freefall in movies like Cutaway and Dropzone. On the plus side, Charlie Sheen stars in this flick. Winning?!

With a name like “Bear,” he was born to kick ass. In this episode of Discovery Channel’s Man vs. Wild, Bear Grylls attempts his highest skydive – a HALO jump, or High Altitude Low Opening, from 30,000 feet into the Mojave Desert. Oh, and did I mention it’s a cool -45 F at exit. Brrr!
