Friday Freakout: Crushing Canopy Collapse

There are those unexpected moments when you suddenly yell “WTF!” out loud. This is one of those moments. One minute he’s coming in on final for a standard landing, the next minute he’s winded, gasping for air as he lie on the ground in shock from a 30 foot fall (give or take) due to a collapsed canopy. WTF, right?! There can only be one answer: air gremlins!

Check out this aerial view of Gary Connery’s world record wingsuit landing. On May 23, 2012, stuntman Gary Connery became the first skydiver in history to land a wingsuit without a parachute, with the help of 18,000 cardboard boxes as his landing strip. The people who helped set up all those boxes were probably a little pissed, considering more than 75% of them weren’t used… but probably not as pissed as Jeb Corliss (kidding, kidding). Congrats Gary!

BREAKING: World’s First Wingsuit Landing Without Parachute

Congrats to stuntman Gary Connery on making aviation history on May 23, 2012 as the first skydiver in the world to land a wingsuit without a parachute. The landing strip consisted of 18,000 cardboard boxes stacked 350ft long, 40ft wide and 12ft deep. Crazy, but way cool. What an amazing “first”… that’s beer Gary!

This must be more fun than the dizzying 1080 swoop I posted last week. Some might say Ryan has big balls for trying this, while others might say he has big stains in his pants after trying this. Close Call With Swooper on Final Approach

Trond Teigen had a close call at Skydive Empuriabrava in Spain… a swooper comes straight at him on the final leg. If anything, learn from this mistake and remember to follow your DZ’s landing pattern to avoid close calls like this; it could’ve been a lot worse!
