It’s like that scene from the movie Point Break where Keanu Reeves skydives without a rig, only this is real. What do you think: coolness or recklessness?

Airplane vs. Parachutist

Here’s another kind of formation flying… this time with badass Red Bull Air Force aerobatic pilot, Martin Sonka, flying side-by-side with skydiver/parachutist, Petr Mestak. Martin holds the airplane in ever so slightly angled flight — much like a helicopter — right next to Mestak underneath his cross-braced parachute. Very impressive.

The Red Bull Air Force flying a stacked wingsuit formation, training for the “upcoming” IMAX film, Human Flight 3D. A lot of us have been waiting patiently for this flick to hit the big screen, and it’s been a while since any new information has been released, but Red Bull has issued this statement: “Human Flight 3D the movie will be released spring/summer 2013. A definite date will be announced early 2013.” Fingers crossed. C’mon Red Bull, you sent a man into the Stratosphere… let’s make this happen!

Marco Waltenspiel’s latest wingsuit mission for the Red Bull Skydive Team saw him soaring over the Schafberg mountain in Austria. Marco clocked speeds over 100 MPH (about 160 km/h) as he cruised at close range above the 5,800ft mountain peak and over the forests below.

Mission accomplished! After flying to an altitude of more than 128,000 feet (39,000 meters) in a helium-filled balloon, Red Bull Stratos pilot Felix Baumgartner completed a record breaking skydive on October 14, 2012 from the edge of space (I know, I know… it’s not actually the edge of space, but their marketing team deserves to have some fun too). During his 4:20 freefall, Felix reached a maximum speed of 833mph (1,342.8 km/h), which set a new world record as the first human in history to break the sound barrier with his body! Mach 1.24… in a spacesuit! The 43-year-old Austrian also broke two other world records (highest freefall, highest manned balloon flight), leaving the record for the longest freefall to project mentor Col. Joe Kittinger.

Red Bull Stratos made history on October 14, 2012 when professional BASE jumper Felix Baumgartner set a new world record as the first human to skydive from 128,000 feet. Or was that inches? Whatever. I can’t confirm this is official footage, but I can confirm this is a 1:350 scale recreation of the historic jump. Well played, model makers. Well played.

Now this is what I call “tunnel vision”… combining Red Bull, Fred Fugen and Vince Reffet (Soul Flyers), Håvard Flaat (Skywalkers) and Julien Guiho (Team4Speed) in a tunnel training session at Skydive Arena in Prague. Tunnel videos usually result in grainy footage and boring angles. But Red Bull can make anything look good! Oh, and I guess the flyers aren’t too shabby either :p

World Record BASE Jump From 21,400 Feet!
