Can you say “Living the Dream?” I believe that phrase might have just been coined to describe Maktoum. And the pancaked open accordian line thingy-ma-bob that seems to be rotating in both directions? I know, I know, another great video from Dubai. Sigh. But really, they’re doing all kinds of fun stuff over there. And now that my favorite pilot has up and moved to the desert and is now rubbing elbows with His Highness on the regular, I fully expect to see shots of Dean in Dubai edits. Dubai flyers: He’s hilarious and he videos well. In the mean time, we’ll settle for sick swoops, sweet tracks, and more shots of the Palm.

Guinness World Record Hot Air Balloon Skydives

On February 10th, 2013, Skydive Dubai Desert Campus set two official Guinness World Records… 1) the most skydivers to jump from a hot air balloon simultaneously (25 skydivers), and 2) the most skydivers to jump from a hot air balloon during the same flight (40 skydivers). The third record was unofficial due to technical reasons: the most female skydivers to exit simultaneously out of a hot air balloon on a single flight. Congrats to everyone involved!

Solaris Freestyle at World Skydiving Championships

Freestyle is 1,000 percent awesome. We know that seems a bit exaggerated, but the gentlemen of Solaris are quite talented. Gymnastics in the air while donning a top hat? Yup, that just happened. I remember seeing videos of Merriah Eakins when I first started skydiving and I was blown away by what was possible in the art of human flight. Grab a beer (even if it’s morning, I won’t judge) and kick back with Solaris’ sweet performances at the 2012 World Parachuting Championships at Skydive Dubai.

The Wonderkid: 16 Years Old, 260 Jumps, Freefly Ninja

This might just seem like an ordinary freefly jump, unti you realize Mohammed Al Huraiz is only 16 years old and already has 260 jumps. And damn can this kid shred! I sure wish I had 260 jumps when I was 16 years old. Hell, I wish I was flying like this at 260 jumps. This reminds me of the “9 jump wonder” tunnel instructor doing his AFF course (a must-watch!).

Friday Freakout: Parachute Sucked Into Wingsuit Burble

A wingsuit, a burble and a slider-down opening with line dump at full speed. All rolled into one. That is all. No cutaway, but it sure looks like one helluva ride! For anyone interested in the details: he was flying a Tony Suit X-Bird, PD Spectre 97, 11.5 foot bridle, and a 30 inch PC. Any advice on how to avoid this next time?
