Blazin' Trails at Air Show

After seeing this shot from below, it’s pretty cool to see the first-person view of Marco Tiezzi leading the atmonauti flock at the 2011 ATP Airshow Locorotondo in Italy. Photo by Marco Tiezzi. Check out the other angle of this shot from below. View Photo »
Friday Freakout: Skydiver Almost Hits Plane

Friday Freakout: Skydiver Almost Hits Plane

Skydivers and planes go together like parachutes and gravity… except when planes fly along jump run when it’s time to pull. It’s a good thing parachutes and gravity still work well together, because that’s the only thing stopping this guy from hitting the plane in freefall. Have you ever had a close call like this... Blue Skies and Water Over Thailand

Blue Skies and Water Over Thailand

A 14-way formation skydive at the 2009 Thai Sky Festival in — you guessed it — Thailand. Unfortunately the 2011 Thai Sky Festival was cancelled but will hopefully be back next year. This shot reminds me of a few skydiving pics in paradise, like Luigi Cani flying his wingsuit over Fiji and this 6-way formation... View Photo »
Friday Freakout: Dumb and Dumber, Dirty Low Pull

Friday Freakout: Dumb and Dumber, Dirty Low Pull

This is ninety seconds of dumb and dumber. At least he realized how dumb this was and hopefully learned from it. In other news, I’ve heard AADs save lives, and rumor has it that flaring helps for soft landings. I still think this insane dirty low pull is the lowest I’ve ever seen — it’s... Watch Video »
Skydiver's Barrel Roll Landing Close To Ground

Skydiver's Barrel Roll Landing Close To Ground

What do you get when using your rears and harness close to the ground on a Velo 90? A barrel roll that scares the shit out of everyone watching. This must be more fun than the dizzying 1080 swoop I posted last week. Some might say Ryan has big balls for trying this, while others... Watch Video »

Skydiving... With A Bowling Ball!

Skydiving... With A Bowling Ball!

When Niklas Daniel isn’t setting his parachute on fire with gas and gun powder, he’s having fun in the sky (as if exploding canopies weren’t fun enough). Niklas got great footage of this off-site jump with a bowling ball at the 8th annual Mother Of All Boogies at Skydive Moab. Do you think it was... Watch Video »

Friday Freakout: Parachute Catches Fire, Goes BOOM!

Friday Freakout: Parachute Catches Fire, Goes BOOM...

Legendary skydive cinematographer Joe Jennings was asked to coordinate a burning parachute stunt for a music video. Normally they soak the parachute in gasoline and build an ignition switch. But the first attempt didn’t work, so they added gun powder and closed off the front cells to prevent the fuel from drying out too quickly.... Watch Video »

Dizzying 1080 Degree Swoop

Dizzying 1080 Degree Swoop

Gettin’ dizzy just watching this skydiver crank out a 1080 degree hook turn while swooping. This reminds me of Nick Batsch’s hook turns on a 2.97 wingload when he was testing the JPX Petra 69 prototype from Icarus Canopies. Watch Video »

He did it! The fearless Jeb Corliss made history on September 24, 2011 as the first person to fly a wingsuit through Tianmen Hole — an actual hole through a mountain — in Hunan Province, China. Jeb jumped from a helicopter 6,500 feet above the mountain before flying through the 360-foot-tall, 96-foot-wide, 260-foot-long hole in... Watch Video »

Friday Freakout: GoPro Camera Catches On Reserve Handle

Friday Freakout: GoPro Camera Catches On Reserve H...

Don’t get me wrong, I love GoPro! But GoPro cameras and metal handles don’t play nice with each other — especially when freeflying. Yet another reminder to watch those GoPros and protect your handles. On the bright side, at least she didn’t lose her reserve handle. What’s your take on GoPros and/or metal handles? Watch Video »
