A tribute to Kurt Ruppert Jr. on his last jump at the Invasion 2012 with Scotty Burns and friends. Kurt has been missing since January 3, 2013 after flying his wingsuit around some mountainous terrain in Washington State. Not only was Kurt adventurous and a talented wingsuit pilot, but he was generous and giving, often doing mission work in Haiti. And you couldn’t wipe that smile off his face. Blue skies and fly free brother!

Wonder Why We Wingsuit?

Wingsuiting is one of those things in skydiving that’s easy to fall in love with. The first time I tried it I screamed and yahoooooo-ed for a full few minutes under canopy then promptly ordered a wingsuit (in hot pink, naturally). Videos like this from the S-Fly High Skill Camp 2012 in Propriano remind me why I did that. Amazing. Magical. Beautiful. And now I’m off to hook my wingsuit back up to my rig.

Here’s the official video of the new 100-way wingsuit world record. Over 100 people from 21 countries and 6 continents gathered in the sky on September 22, 2012 at Skydive Perris to set a new record for the world’s largest wingsuit skydiving formation. This is the first of what we hope will be a series of videos profiling the team and the incredible effort that went into this achievement. Congrats to the Lead Organizer, Taya Weiss, and everyone else involved!
