Seems he woulda been wrapped around the tail REAL good and took out the whole plane…..how lucky for him the other guys pulled him back…

You can see the canopy drop out as he’s edging out the exit.

Was in a Cessna 185 for a not-quite-so-dramatic main-dump when the rear-facing jumper swept his pin on the door handle on the prepare to spot maneuver. Similar excited yelling. He moved to the rear of the plane and sat on his main before the door was ever opened, the pilot approved us proceeding. We did the 4 way without him. Sh!t does happen. Stay tuned!

Had a similar incident happen to a student of mine at the WFFC in Rantoul… So out of the door I go on the camera footstep of Mullin’s King Air… Student starts to emerge and voila, rubs the pin on the way out and the pack is out… I saw three hands pulling him in and I followed up getting inside the plane with him. Mind you, 30 seconds before that I did a full-rig check (pin, leg straps, chest straps, BOC in place, etc). I am grateful for the fact that all other people on-board were looking out for everyone else . Lesson: We need to include self-responsibility awareness about moving inside the jump plane and the last-second self-discipline of gear check before presenting ourselves out to the environment.

Just shared this on a Facebook page from Skydive New England for an event this weekend called, ironically, “Check yourself before you wreck yourself!!!” LOL!!! I LOVE how the guy is yelling at this dude: ”Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-WHOA!!!! HAAAAY!!!!!!!! NOOOO!!!! GET BACK IN THE PLANE!!!!!” LOL!!!!!
