“Do you need an ambulance”…….That’s trauma buddy, he goes straight to the hospital whether he has wounds showing or not and doesn’t get a choice. I can’t believe they yanked him up like that and sat around starring at him repeating himself over and over for that long, he obviously had a concussion too.

Target Fixation hits the nail on the head. Credit to Mr. Fergusun for allowing this to be posted so others can learn from it. His “Staff” T-shirt, his spotting of the plane and giving last second coaching to the student, as well as his sporting a camera all suggest a trusted, somewhat experienced skydiver. Once we set aside the missed opportunity to allow the canopy to fly in half-brakes to take advantage of the long upwind spot that still left him with plenty of safe landing spots upwind, what we have, below 500 feet, is target fixation pure and simple. That this is recognized among pilots and motorcyclists makes it a phenomenon worth being aware of as skydivers.

Amazing that a guy who asumably is at least an A jumper, would hit a vehicle which SHOULD NOT be in the LZ, if that WAS the LZ, that these other jokers would stand around chit-chattin, movin him around, instead of securing him where he lay, giving all of their independent OPINIONS about what is wrong, and on and on and on…this could have been SO much worse…like DEAD……give up the sport , it aint for you…..

just cant believe the bloke didn’t try and land a bit further away from the trailer,shame he lost his arm,but there was plenty of landing area away from the truck dude

Ground crew?? What's the minimal size of a ''obstacle free'' LZ for a student? And is a truck a obstacle? To bad he had to loose his arm anyway!
