The safety notes at the end really make you question this tandem master’s practice of only attaching his student’s harness at high altitude. What’s the point of positioning a tandem pair by the door in case of low-altitude emergencies, if the jumpmaster has to start hooking up his passenger AFTER aircraft structural failure or a spin has occurred…? Surely it would be better to attach all 4 clips at take-off, but loosely for comfort, and then tighten them at altitude.

Matt is right on. At 4:48 it does look like the pilot FINALY neutralized the elevator. After an established spin of that length, it will take some time to come out of a spin, which it did shortly thereafter. Judging by the clouds and tandem opening altitude, they were down to 5k feet or below. If you look at every previous view of the elevator, they had it pinned up. That’s crap piloting. You’d never know if the skydivers contributed to the spin if the pilot doesn’t take action to break it, which he didn’t do for a loooong time. Must be on crack to think the pilots did a good job. Remeind me never to fly with Antony.

That wasn’t a porter. Was an Atlas Angel, hence all the talk about Atlas Angel’s. Spin recovery from an Angel is a bit more tricky than in a porter, especially with those meatbombs in the back. To be honest I don’t think they would have recovered if those guys didn’t exit the aircraft, not matter what control inputs were used. The C of G in that aerie is still not quite right.

if you watch the video carefully at the 4:48 the elevator is at neutral position and a bit forward. the pilot must have right trimmed the rudder while climbing that is why he could not exit from the spin.the fact that skydivers were sitting at the back of the plane while the middle part was empty made the weight and balance of the plane to become extremely unstable. the reason the plane recovered is because all of them jumped out of the plane. this kind of planes are dificult to recover from a spin like that. they are not like small cesnas . the pilot did a good job

pilot fail! Looks to me as if the pilot was trying to pull the elevator back?!?! A spin is still a STALL…elevator neutral, reduce power, full opposite rudder!!! Come on!

This was super cool to watch!! I jumped out of (tandem) Atlas Angel’s brother Michael 3 times already!! I know Graham Field as well and the dude on the ground with the checkered pants is Thatch!! ;) Had fun watching this!! Oh, and have just started with ground school for pilots license!!! Too Cool!!!! Booking my nxt tandem already……that will be nr.6!!!! ;)

Not one, but two dumbass pilots that don’t know how to recover from a spin. That was a porter too…..so easy to recover a Pilatus Porter from a spin. Those divers were brave though, after about 5 rotations without a recovery and then noticing that the co-pilot was the most scared on in the plane…..see ya!

If the loadmaster/jumpmaster/senior jumper leaves without saying anything or is gone when you look around, then I strongly suggest you leave as well . . . .! especially if the Pilot has gone too!

And if the Pilot hasn’t got a rig on. . . then brace yourself for a Mr Bill situation. Haaa
