The view from the DZs on the North Shore of Oahu beats this by a million. Beautiful green mountains, beach, and the blue ocean. You can watch dolphins and whales play in the warm water during the calm ride up.

I never let anything like that happen, anywhere. Only made few vacation jumps at Locarno.

Oh, interestingly, you’ve featured a video, “Friday Freakout, Skydiver nearly impacts mountain” recently. I contacted Nemo.Skyfish because the video reminded me so much of Locarno. Turns out that jump was out of a DZ about 20 miles north of Locarno.

If there’s a more spectacular ‘top floor’ than Para Centro Locarno, Switzerland on a clear day I haven’t seen it. Google Earth it. The DZ is on the East side of Lago Maggiore. As though the Alps wern’t enough, the climb outs always involve the pilots taking advantage of ‘ground effect’ thermals. Meaning you are never more than 50 feet off the deck hugging the mountains until about 9 thousand feet above field elevation. Yes, that means the occasional wingstand past an outcropping too!
