We have experimented with a horizontal line for stability and it does work well. However, besides complicating the setup and launch, when developing the WingmanCam we did not aim for total stability, as a little swinging when maneuvering causes the pilot to swing slowly across the ‘frame’, conveying the sense of motion that we pilots all love. If you watch any of the videos you will see the POV changing as the WingmanCam rises above the pilot in a left turn and below in a right turn.

Thanks for the info Pete! The Wingman Cam looks awesome so far. Any idea if it can be attached to a skydiving rig during a regular deployment?

Hangs of an outer brake kine.
It only weighs 200gm (7oz) so the canopy doesn’t even know its there.

Fully agree about not being used as primary footage (at least not yet), but as you said, you can definitely get some good b-roll footage.

I think it needs a triangular line to to keep it horizontally centered, at least. It’s pretty impressive, but I cant see it being consistently stable enough to use as primary footage… mostly b-roll.
As long as its mounted to the main lines so it can be cut away, I think this will catch on quickly :)
